The Rewards of Faith: What Happens When You Step Out Leave a Comment / Leap of Faith, Spiritual Growth / By Coach Kenya Joy Taking a leap of faith can feel daunting, especially for Christian women with ADHD. With our busy minds and tendency to overthink, trusting God without knowing the full picture feels like walking a tightrope without a net. Yet, God invites us to step out, promising great rewards when we trust Him completely. Last week, we explored why taking a leap of faith feels so hard—the fears, doubts, and “what ifs” that try to hold us back. This week let’s dive into the reward waiting on the other side of that leap. Everyone Loves a Reward Let’s be honest—everyone loves to be rewarded, especially for a job well done. But when it comes to stepping out in faith, the reward often comes after the step, not before. And that’s where many of us get stuck. The Bible tells us what faith truly is: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1, NLT) Faith isn’t about certainty—it’s about trusting God’s promises, even when the outcome is invisible. What Happens When You Take the Leap? When we choose to trust God and step out, we unlock His plans for our lives. Mark 11:22-24 reminds us of the power of faith: “Then Jesus said to the disciples, ‘Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, “May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.’” By trusting God, even in the face of fear, we begin to experience His power. In Matthew 4:18-21, Jesus called Simon Peter and Andrew to leave everything and follow Him. Can you imagine the fear and hesitation they must have felt? Yet their leap of faith led to lives of purpose and fulfillment. When we step out in faith, we: Deepen our relationship with God by trusting Him over our understanding. Gain clarity on His plans and purpose for our lives. Experience His provision and peace, even in uncertainty. God knows the outcomes we can’t see. Jeremiah 29:11 promises: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” What Happens When You Don’t? On the flip side, when we hesitate or refuse to step out, we miss opportunities to grow, serve, and experience God’s best for us. Fear can paralyze us, and we might feel stuck in the same patterns, longing for more but unable to reach it. Galatians 2:20 reminds us of the foundation of our faith: “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” When we shrink back, we’re not fully living in the freedom Christ won for us. Building Faith Through Reflection If trusting God feels hard, start by remembering His faithfulness.
