“But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, ‘Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.’” – Isaiah 43:1 (NLT)
To be rooted is to be firmly planted — steady, unshakable, grounded.
Imagine stepping into this new year with that kind of certainty… fully settled in who God says you are.
Before you write one goal or make one plan, God is inviting you into something deeper: identity before achievement.
Because when you’re not rooted in identity, you end up striving for things that can never define you, fulfill you, or sustain you.
It’s time to release the habit of entering January as if you must prove something — to yourself, to others, or even to God.
You don’t need a reset to become worthy.
You simply need to return to who you already are in His eyes.
This year begins not with pressure, but with position — standing tall, confident, and secure in the identity God has spoken over you.
God Spoke Identity Before Direction
Before God gave Israel instructions… before He told them what to do next… He reminded them who they were to Him.
“I have called you by name; you are Mine.”
Identity first.
Direction second.
This is God’s pattern throughout Scripture.
He never sends you into a new season unsure of who you are. He establishes identity so that whatever comes next — the calling, the stretching, the growth — is rooted in truth, not insecurity.
As you step into this year, hear Him speaking the same words over you:
“You are Mine.”
Not because you got everything right.
Not because last year went perfectly.
But because He created you, formed you, and claimed you long before you knew who you were becoming.
Letting Go of Old Labels From Last Year
There are moments from last year that still cling to you — a comment someone made, a failure that felt heavy, a habit you couldn’t seem to conquer.
Without realizing it, those moments try to shape how you see yourself.
But God never intended for temporary experiences to become permanent identities.
When He calls you by name, every false label begins to lose its grip.
Shame loses its power.
Failure loses its sting.
Fear loses its authority.
This is the beauty of starting a new year with God:
You don’t move forward carrying what broke you — you move forward carrying what He spoke over you.
And He calls you His.
Rooted vs. Rushed: God Centers You First
When you enter a season rushed, you feel scattered.
When you enter rooted, you feel secure.
God centers you before He sends you.
He grounds your identity before He shapes your assignment.
He reminds you who you are before He shows you where to go.
This is why slowing down at the start of the year matters — clarity grows from stillness, not speed.
Reflection Prompts
-
- What identity lie or old label from last year do I need to release before God today?
- What truth about who God calls me can anchor and guide me this month?
- Where is God gently inviting me to grow, heal, or step forward in this new season?
Activating and Building Key(s)
This year, I am becoming the woman who moves with clarity, confidence, and courage because she knows exactly who God says she is.
Encouragement
Take a breath and remember: God has already spoken your identity.
He has already called you by name.
He has already claimed you as His.
You don’t have to fight for a place in this new year.
You already belong in it — fully seen, fully known, fully loved.
May this be the year you feel rooted, steady, and secure in who He created you to be.
You are becoming — beautifully, intentionally, and with God leading every step.
