Take a deep breath, mama! I can relate to all the emotions of being a mom and living with ADHD. Today, we’ll explore how to overcome mom guilt and cultivate self-compassion, embracing God’s grace along the way. The Weight of Mom Guilt Picture this: I’ve been working with a personal trainer for over two years. In the beginning, weight training was tough. As I progressed, the weights increased, and with it came the struggle. The weight felt overwhelming, and I’d be disheartened if I couldn’t complete the workout with the added weight. Similarly, mom guilt operates in a relentless cycle. As your child grows, so do the responsibilities, and so does the guilt. Striving to be the perfect mother while dealing with ADHD can seem like an impossible task. Doubts about your capabilities creep in – are you doing enough for your kids, your family, and yourself? Remember, God sees you as fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Let’s navigate these feelings and transform guilt into self-compassion. Activate and Build: Take a moment today to meditate on Psalm 139:14 and embrace God’s view of you. As Christians, we sometimes mistakenly assume we must be perfect, forgetting that God is the embodiment of perfection. Mom guilt often stems from this pressure to be flawless, but God’s grace reminds us it’s okay to be imperfect and to rely on His strength (2 Corinthians 12:9). Self-compassion comes from acknowledging challenges without self-judgment. Remember, every mother faces hurdles, and seeking help is not a sign of weakness.
