Faith & Focus: ADHD, Holy Spirit, and Me – Post 9
Even the strongest believer can reach a point of burnout. You know that place where your heart feels heavy, your body is tired, and your spirit feels like it’s running on empty. Why? Because we’re human. I know…that’s not a deep revelation, but it’s one we often forget. Giving our lives to Christ doesn’t make us immune to exhaustion, discouragement, or frustration. It simply means we have a Savior who walks with us through it.
When I Wanted to Quit
In last week’s blog, I talked about wanting to quit and say goodbye to this journey. Let’s be honest, this walk with God isn’t for the faint of heart. There are trials and tribulations that come, and sometimes it feels like wave after wave with no break in between. But it’s the strength of our walk, not the absence of struggle, that keeps us from being overtaken by it all.
Have I ever said, “Forget it”? Absolutely. Have I ever tried to walk away? Sure, I have. I’ve entered my prayer space with a heavy heart, laid out before God, and wept until I had nothing left. No words, just tears. And in those quiet, broken moments, I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit wrapping around me. I could feel His peace slowly entering where the pain once lived.
The Moment God Met Me There
It’s in those moments that I could feel the Holy Spirit’s presence so strongly. The peace of God began to quiet my heart, softening the ache that had settled there. I could feel His strength slowly taking over where my strength had completely run out.
Because I chose to trust Him with my most vulnerable moments, because I laid everything at His feet and gave Him full access to handle what I couldn’t, He renewed my strength. Just as His Word promises: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.” — Isaiah 40:31 (NLT).
God sees it all… the tears you cry in silence, the frustration that weighs on your heart, the exhaustion that words can’t explain. He walks with you through every moment and never once looks away. All He asks is that you bring it to Him…every worry and every fear. His Word tells us to “cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.” When you truly let go and trust Him, He steps in with power, peace, and restoration.
Turning Burnout Into Breakthrough
We often imagine breakthrough as something big and dramatic, but sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes, it’s simply the moment you feel God’s peace rush in and carry you through what you thought would break you. My breakthrough wasn’t the end of the battle. It was the strength to keep going. God didn’t just lift me out of the struggle; He strengthened me in it, preparing me for what was next. That strength led to deeper healing, stronger faith, and a renewed ability to walk with purpose.
A Word of Encouragement for You
Maybe today you feel like you have nothing left to give. I’ve been there. But even when your strength runs out, God’s strength steps in. He’s not asking you to have it all together. He’s asking you to trust Him with what’s left. Your breakthrough may not come with fireworks; it might come quietly, in the steady rhythm of grace carrying you forward. Hold on. God is restoring what burnout tried to steal.
You don’t have to walk this journey alone. If you’ve been feeling drained or distant from God, let’s walk this out together.
