Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
In this Becoming Her season, I have had to be honest about the fact that there are still places in me that need healing. I have had to face the discomfort of realizing that even after growth, prayer, and progress, some old wounds can still be stirred by present-day moments. Yes, it is possible to love God, be growing, be moving forward, and still find yourself tender in places you thought would be healed by now. That does not mean you are broken beyond repair, nor does it mean you are going backward. It simply means you are human, it means you are being honest about where you are, and it creates room for Him to show up strong in your life.
Rooted in Grace
Scripture speaks directly to moments like this. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT), the Lord says, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” That verse has a way of gently confronting the pressure we often place on ourselves to be strong all the time. God never asked us to pretend that we have everything together. Instead, He invites us to bring even our fragile places to Him, because His grace was always meant to meet us there.
Restored: The Layers of Healing
There are layers to healing. Sometimes the deepest work God does in us happens slowly and quietly over time. You may reach a point where you truly believe you have moved beyond a painful experience, and then, unexpectedly, a situation or conversation brings those feelings back to the surface. When this happens, it can be easy to question your progress or wonder if you have somehow taken a step backward. But healing is not a one-time event. It is a process where God continues to restore places in the heart that may have been hidden or protected for years.
Released into Strength Through Grace
What I am learning in this season is that healing does not make you weak. It makes you honest, and honesty creates room for God’s grace to move. When we allow Him to enter the places we once tried to hide or rush past, His strength begins to take the lead. That is why the Lord reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” The very places we once thought disqualified us may become the places where His power is revealed the most.
Becoming Her in Motion
If an old wound has recently surfaced in your life, resist the urge to shame yourself for it. Instead, pause and invite God into that moment. Ask Him to continue the healing work He has already begun. Trust that His grace is strong enough to meet you right where you are.
Let’s Pray…
Father, I thank You for the grace You extend to me in every season of healing. When old wounds surface, or healing feels slow, help me trust that You are restoring my heart one layer at a time. Continue Your healing work in every place that still needs Your touch. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
