Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
Fear will always try to follow you into new seasons, but it doesn’t get to lead.
Anytime you step into something new, fear will try to introduce itself as if it belongs there. It will try to convince you that you’re not ready, not qualified, and not capable. If you listen long enough, you will start delaying what God already confirmed.
But fear does not get to dictate your outcome.
In this Becoming Her journey, we are shifting from fear-led decisions to courage-rooted movement. Confidence is not built by having all the answers. It is built by trusting the God who promised to be with you.
When Fear Feels Crippling Instead of Cautious
Fear almost always shows up when you decide to move. And sometimes, it can feel crippling.
It can make the next step seem ten times bigger than it really is.
It can magnify the obstacle in front of you.
It can rehearse worst-case scenarios until obedience starts to feel irresponsible.
If I’m honest, I’ve had to face that in this Becoming season. I’ve had to slow down long enough to recognize that fear was trying to dictate my actions and quietly define my outcome.
That’s where everything changed.
Fear may show up.
But it does not get to define who I become.
Sometimes fear disguises itself as wisdom. It looks like overthinking. It feels like delay. It sounds like self-doubt. It hides behind perfectionism, procrastination, and comparison.
But when you are overcoming fear as a Christian woman, the first step is recognizing it. Not judging yourself. Not shaming yourself. Just seeing it clearly.
Fear is a feeling.
It is not your identity.
Courage Rooted in God’s Presence
Scripture speaks directly into moments like this.
“This is my command, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
— Joshua 1:9, NLT
When God told Joshua to be strong and courageous, He was not dismissing fear. He was redirecting focus.
The focus was not on the size of the assignment.
It was not on the obstacles ahead.
It was not even on Joshua’s ability.
The focus was on the presence of God.
“For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
That changes everything.
Courage is not something you manufacture. It is something you stand in when you remember who walks with you. When your focus shifts from what could go wrong to who is going with you, fear begins to lose its grip.
Courage is not anchored in success. It is anchored in His presence. And when you are grounded in that truth, emotional stability begins to replace anxiety.
You can move forward in faith because you are not moving forward alone.
Taking the Next Step Anyway
So what does this look like in real life?
It looks like taking the step anyway.
Not because fear disappeared.
Not because you suddenly feel ready.
But because you are rooted in the truth that God is with you.
Maybe the step is small.
The email you’ve been avoiding.
The conversation you’ve been rehearsing in your mind.
The health decision you keep postponing.
The application.
The obedience you’ve been circling.
Courage does not always look loud. Sometimes it looks like quiet obedience.
So let me ask you gently:
What step have you been postponing because of fear?
And what would it look like to take that step knowing you are not alone?
You don’t have to conquer the whole journey today. Just take the next step.
Fear may show up.
But it does not get to lead.
Father,
When fear tries to define my outcome, remind me who I am in You. Root me in Your presence. Strengthen my heart to move forward in obedience, even when it feels uncomfortable. I choose courage today, not because fear is gone, but because You are with me. Amen.
