The Role of the Holy Spirit / ADHD, Holy Spirit, and Me / By Coach Kenya Joy Relying on the Holy Spirit has been an incredible source of support for me, especially during those moments when my ADHD brain becomes overwhelmed, and anxiety starts to creep in. The Holy Spirit serves as my guiding light, preventing me from surrendering to the weight of overwhelming thoughts and emotions. In times of distress, He manifests Himself in whatever form I need Him to be, providing the comfort and strength I require. All I need to do is simply ask for His presence and assistance. One of the ways in which the Holy Spirit alleviates my anxiety is by redirecting my thoughts to the Word of God. By immersing myself in the Scriptures and meditating on His Word, I find comfort and peace in the midst of turmoil. The Holy Spirit becomes my constant companion, offering guidance and reminding me of the promises and truths revealed in the Bible. A verse that resonates deeply with me is Philippians 4:6 (NLT), which says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.” This powerful passage summarizes the essence of relying on the Holy Spirit and turning to prayer in times of anxiety. It serves as a gentle reminder that I need not carry the burden of worry alone but can instead surrender my concerns to God through the Holy Spirit. Through prayer, I express my needs and desires while also expressing gratitude for the countless blessings and faithfulness of God. When I heed the wisdom of this verse and wholeheartedly trust in the Holy Spirit, a transformation occurs within me. The weight of anxiety dissipates, replaced by a profound sense of peace and assurance. I find comfort in knowing that I am not alone in my struggles and that the Holy Spirit is ever-present, ready to guide, comfort, and intercede on my behalf. Relying on the Holy Spirit and meditating on God’s Word have become vital practices in my life. They enable me to navigate the challenges of my ADHD brain and anxiety, bringing about a sense of calm and restoring my focus. By placing my trust in the Holy Spirit, I embrace the power of prayer and experience firsthand the incredible peace that surpasses all understanding. “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7 (NLT) In moments of overwhelm and anxiety, I am grateful for the Holy Spirit’s unwavering presence. Through His guidance and the truths revealed in Scripture, I am able to let go of worry and find comfort in prayer. The Holy Spirit reminds me to cast my burdens upon God, knowing that He cares for me and will provide the strength and peace I need to navigate through life’s challenges (Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7).
