Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
For many of us, the idea of being consistent in prayer can feel overwhelming. We hear phrases like “pray every day” or “never stop praying,” and our minds immediately go to long hours, perfect words, and spiritual routines that feel hard to maintain. Prayer is not about performing for God; it is about building a relationship with Him. Sometimes the most healing thing you can do is stop trying to pray like everyone else and begin meeting with God in a way that is simple, honest, and sustainable for where you are right now.
Rooted – Prayer is Relationship, Not Performance
Prayer is your direct line of communication with the Father. It is how you connect, how you grow, and how your relationship with Him is strengthened over time. Without communication, even the strongest relationships begin to weaken, and the same is true in your walk with God.
The challenge comes when prayer starts to feel like something you have to get right. We watch others pray with confidence and flow, and quietly tell ourselves that we do not measure up. So instead of leaning into a relationship, we begin striving for performance. That is where pressure replaces peace.
God was never asking you to perform for Him. He was inviting you to come to Him as you are, with what you have, even if all you have are a few honest words.
Restored – How Simple, Consistent Prayer Heals
There was a time when I struggled with prayer more than I wanted to admit. I watched others pray with what seemed like ease and depth, and I tried to follow that same pattern. But it never felt natural for me, and it never felt sustainable.
What I did have was a real desire to pray and a real need to heal. So instead of trying to do what I thought prayer was supposed to look like, I started where I was. I gave God five minutes.
Five simple minutes of honest conversation. I would pray, read a little of the Word, and write in my journal. That was it. Nothing long, nothing complicated, just consistent.
Over time, something began to shift. Those five minutes grew into ten, then fifteen, then moments throughout my day. But more than that, my heart began to heal. The places that felt open and overwhelming started to settle. The consistency of those simple prayers created space for God to meet me right where I was.
That is when I realized that healing was not about how long I prayed, but about how consistently I showed up.
That is also why I created a simple, ADHD-friendly 5-minute prayer routine to help you start where you are and build consistency in a way that feels doable rather than overwhelming.
Released – Building a Prayer Rhythm That You Can Sustain
As your prayer life grows, it begins to shift from something you do to something you live.
The instruction to “never stop praying” in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 is not about maintaining long, uninterrupted moments of prayer. It is about developing a rhythm of staying connected to God throughout your day.
That rhythm will not look the same for everyone, and it does not have to. For you, it may be short, quiet moments. A few honest words. A pause in the middle of a busy day.
This is where freedom comes in. You are no longer trying to match someone else’s rhythm. You are building one that works for you, one that you can return to again and again.
And in that rhythm, consistency becomes natural, not forced.
Becoming Her in Motion
Start small and stay consistent. Choose a simple moment in your day where you can give God your full attention, even if it is just five minutes.
Release the pressure to say the right words. Come to God honestly, just as you are, and allow that space to be real and unfiltered.
Then begin to invite Him into your day. Talk to Him in the small moments, while you are moving, working, or thinking. Let prayer become something you return to, not something you avoid.
Consistency is not built in long moments; it is built in the small ones you keep showing up to.
Let’s Pray…
Father, thank You for inviting me into a relationship with You.
Thank You that I do not have to have the right words or a perfect routine to come before You.
Help me release the pressure to perform and teach me how to meet You in simple, honest moments. Strengthen my desire to be consistent, even if I start small.
Heal the places in my heart that I have carried for too long, and remind me that every moment I spend with You matters.
Teach me how to stay connected to You throughout my day, not out of pressure, but out of love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
