How to Be Mindful of God in Everyday Life 1 Comment / ADHD, Holy Spirit, and Me, Spiritual Growth / By Coach Kenya Joy In everything I do and everywhere I go, I seek the presence of God. It may seem unconventional, but if you pause to contemplate, you’ll realize that God’s presence is boundless and can manifest anywhere. A daily prayer of mine echoes, “Father, open my eyes to see you and my ears to hear your voice.” This prayer is a constant in my life, driven by my desire to perceive God’s subtle influence in the background of every situation. Understanding Mindfulness in God’s Presence What does it mean to be mindful of God? It means to live each moment with a conscious awareness of His existence, recognizing His handiwork in the world around us. Being mindful of God is an intimate journey of faith and mindfulness, where we strive to uncover His presence in the ordinary. Three Ways to Practice Mindfulness in Your Everyday Life Pause and Reflect: In the hustle and bustle of our lives as busy women, especially those with ADHD, it’s easy to feel disconnected from God. But remember, He is ever-present, even in the chaos. Take moments throughout your day to pause, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. In these moments of stillness, intentionally invite God into your awareness. Reflect on His love, guidance, and grace. Psalm 46:10 (NLT) – “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. Explore the Scriptures: The Bible is a treasure trove of wisdom and inspiration. Dedicate time each day to read and meditate on Scripture. Allow God’s word to guide your thoughts and actions. You’ll find that the more you immerse yourself in His teachings, the more mindful you become of His presence in your life. Psalm 119:105 (NLT) – “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Seek Guidance Through Prayer: Just as I pray daily for God to open my eyes and ears to His presence, make prayer a central part of your daily routine. Engage in heartfelt conversations with God. Share your joys, concerns, and gratitude. Through prayer, you’ll strengthen your connection with Him and become more attuned to His responses in the world around you. Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) – “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Five Ways to Be Mindful Nature’s Beauty: Consider the gentle caress of the wind against your skin when you step outside; that’s God’s handiwork in motion. He’s the force behind the wind, a reminder of His omnipresence. The radiant sun in the sky is another testament to God’s existence; each time you gaze upon it, you’ve encountered God. In fact, every encounter with God’s creation is an encounter with God Himself. Everyday Blessings: Find comfort and inspiration in the simplicity of life’s treasures, those often taken for granted. Each morning you wake up in your right mind, you are reminded of God’s presence. In moments of pure happiness, discover God’s grace. Life’s everyday blessings are gentle reminders of His love and care. Acts of Kindness: Being mindful of God also involves being mindful of others. Take the opportunity to perform acts of kindness and love towards those you encounter in your daily life. These acts reflect God’s love and can help you connect with His presence in your interactions. Gratitude Journaling: Keep a journal where you record daily things you’re thankful for. It could be as simple as a beautiful sunset or a kind word from a friend. Gratitude journaling can foster mindfulness of God’s blessings in your life. Mindful Breathing: Practice deep, mindful breathing exercises throughout your day. This simple act of focusing on your breath can help you stay centered and present, allowing you to be more attuned to God’s presence. Activate and Build Your Relationship with God Incorporate these practices into your daily life, and you will activate and build a deeper relationship with God. Embracing mindfulness, exploring the Scriptures, and seeking guidance through prayer will allow you to find God in the everyday moments, even amidst the challenges of a busy life. As you journey through life as a Christian woman, remember that being mindful of God in everyday life is not only possible but transformative. It’s an ongoing process of growing closer to Him and experiencing His presence in the most ordinary of moments. So, take that first step towards a more mindful and spiritually fulfilling life today.
