Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to overlook growth when your eyes are on the prize? You are so focused on where you want to be that you barely acknowledge how far you have come. Maybe you believe growth only counts when the struggle is over, the fear is gone, or the healing is complete. Meanwhile, you are responding differently, setting healthier boundaries, and making choices the former version of you could not make.
God’s work in you isn’t finished, but that doesn’t mean your growth isn’t real. Stop overlooking the progress you have made on your Becoming Her journey.
Growth Is Not Always Dramatic
We often expect growth to announce itself through a major breakthrough, a completely healed wound, or a struggle that never returns. Much of our growth, however, happens quietly.
You pause before reacting. You recognize a pattern sooner. You recover more quickly after a difficult moment. You say no without offering a long explanation. These changes may seem small because you are living them every day, but they are evidence that God is working within you. Growth does not have to be dramatic to be significant.
When I Look Back
When I look back over my Becoming Her journey, I can see the growth. I can see fear diminishing. I can see relationships that are now governed by healthy boundaries. I can see the areas where my identity in Christ has been strengthened.
I may not always recognize these changes while I am living them, but when I compare who I am today with who I was when this journey began, the growth is evident. I cannot deny what God has done simply because He is still working.
Evidence of His Faithfulness
Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
When you recognize your growth, you are not giving yourself all the credit or pretending you have arrived. You are acknowledging God’s faithfulness. The boundaries you now honor, the truth you now believe, and the fear that no longer controls you are evidence of His work within you. Your growth becomes part of your testimony that the God who began the work has been faithful to continue it.
Don’t Use Perfection as the Measure
If perfection is your measure, the evidence of God’s work will always feel easy to dismiss. There will always be another fear to confront, another pattern to break, or another area that needs healing. Recognizing what has changed does not mean you stop growing.
A better question is not, “Have I completely mastered this?” Ask yourself, “What is different in me now?” Pay attention to the choice you make, the truth you return to, and the boundary you are finally willing to honor. Stop allowing what still needs work to erase the work God has already done.
Becoming Her in Motion
Set aside a few quiet minutes and ask yourself: What has changed in me that I haven’t given myself permission to recognize?
Write down three areas where you can see evidence of growth. Be specific. Instead of writing, “I am stronger,” name the decision, response, boundary, or belief that shows your strength. Then thank God for what He has done in each area. Let recognition become gratitude.
Let’s Pray
Father, thank You for the changes in me that I have not always taken time to recognize. Thank You for every fear that has lost its grip, every boundary I have learned to honor, and every truth that has become rooted in my heart. I am still growing, but I am not the woman I used to be. Help me stop using perfection as my measure and begin seeing my progress as evidence of Your work. I trust You to continue what You began in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
