Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
Over the last 16 years, prayer has been my place of refuge. It is the place I go when the world seems to close in, and the war in my mind becomes overwhelming. It is where I pour it all out and give God the unpolished, rough areas of my life.
In this season of Becoming Her, I have submerged myself in the presence of God. I have brought the good, the bad, and the ugly before Him, and allowed His presence to begin healing those wounded areas that try to rewrite my story.
Prayer Is a Refuge, Not a Performance
“The Lord is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” – Psalm 91:2 (NLT)
God is never intimidated by what you bring before Him. He is not surprised by your thoughts, your emotions, or your questions. His presence is a refuge.
A refuge is not a place of performance or perfection. It is a place of protection. It is where you go when you need covering, when you need to breathe, and when you need to be held together in ways you cannot manage on your own. God invites you into that kind of safety, not to impress Him, but to trust Him.
This is where the process of Becoming Her begins.
Rooted in Safe Surrender
Becoming Her is a process that does not just happen. There are layers to this journey, and each layer requires time in the presence of God. Time with Him is not only necessary for growth, but it is also the place where you lay down everything that concerns you.
When you show up in prayer openly and honestly, your roots begin to grow strong. You are no longer rooted in pressure or performance, but in His presence. And shallow roots cannot sustain the life of Becoming Her.
Restored Through His Presence
In prayer, once you lay your concerns at His feet, restoration begins to take place. The overwhelm starts to quiet, the frustration begins to loosen, and the old narratives that once felt so loud begin to lose their hold.
As you remain in His presence, God refreshes you. He pours back into the places that felt empty and worn down. What the enemy meant for evil, the Holy Spirit begins to turn for your good. And slowly, you begin to see yourself through the lens of truth, not through the weight of what you have been through.
Released Into Healing and Wholeness
When you consistently meet God in this place of honesty, you do not leave the same. You are released lighter, clearer, and more grounded than when you came.
Prayer is not just where you lay things down, but it is where you are strengthened to rise differently. You are no longer carrying what once weighed you down. You are walking forward with a renewed sense of peace, clarity, and trust in God.
This is how Becoming Her is sustained, not by striving, but by returning to the place where you are safe enough to heal.
Becoming Her in Motion
This week, make prayer your safe place, not your perfect place.
Set aside a few intentional moments each day to come before God honestly. Do not filter your thoughts. Do not try to say everything the right way. Just come as you are.
Let prayer become the place where you release what you have been holding and allow God to meet you there. Even if it is only for a few minutes, choose consistency over perfection.
Let’s Pray…
Father,
Thank You for being my refuge and my safe place. Thank You that I do not have to come to You with perfect words or a perfect heart.
Help me to come before You honestly, without fear or hesitation. Teach me how to release what I have been holding and trust You with every part of my life.
Heal the areas in me that are still wounded. Quiet the thoughts that try to overwhelm me, and remind me of the truth of who I am in You.
Thank You for meeting me in this place. Thank You for restoring me and strengthening me as I continue to become who You have called me to be.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
