Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
Have you ever noticed that something that used to bother you no longer affects you the same way? Maybe something you once tolerated now makes you uncomfortable, or you find yourself responding differently without having to work so hard at it. You pause before reacting. You say no without spending hours questioning whether you made the right decision. You recognize a familiar pattern before you fall back into it. Somewhere along the way, something inside of you shifted. You may not have noticed the transformation while it was happening, but the way you live is beginning to reveal that you are not the same woman you used to be.
When the Old Pieces No Longer Fit
I recently had a conversation with a friend about the changes we began noticing as we moved from our 40s into our 50s. It was more than getting older. Something within us had shifted. We were thinking differently, responding differently, and becoming more aware of what we were willing to carry, tolerate, and give our energy to. Things that once seemed normal did not necessarily feel right anymore. The old pieces no longer fit.
Spiritual growth can feel that way too. God can be doing such a deep work within you that eventually the life you have been accustomed to living no longer agrees with the woman you are becoming. The change may feel unfamiliar at first, but unfamiliar does not always mean something is wrong. Sometimes it is simply evidence that you have grown.
When Growth Requires Adjustment
Growth will eventually require something from you. As God changes you internally, there will be areas of your life that need to come into agreement with that growth. That does not mean changing everything at once or trying to prove that you have become a different woman. It means paying attention when an old pattern, response, boundary, or priority no longer supports what God is developing within you. Sometimes growth changes what you allow, where you give your energy, and how you respond when life does not go the way you expected. The question is not whether everything in your life looks different. The question is, does the life you’re living support the woman you’re becoming?
Let the Spirit Lead
Galatians 5:25 (NLT) says, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Those last words matter: every part of our lives. God does not transform our identity while leaving our choices, relationships, boundaries, priorities, and responses untouched. As we mature spiritually, the Holy Spirit helps us recognize the areas that are no longer in agreement with what God is developing within us. Following His leading may require an adjustment, a different response, or the courage to choose differently than you have before. The goal is not change for the sake of change. The goal is a life that increasingly reflects the work God is doing within you.
Let Your Growth Become Visible
The woman you are becoming should eventually become visible in the way you live. Not because you are trying to prove your growth, but because spiritual maturity changes how you move through life. You begin making choices from a different place. You protect what God has restored, respond from what He has taught you, and become more intentional about what you allow to shape your life. You are not simply learning who God says you are anymore. You are learning to live like you believe Him. Ask yourself, does the life I am living support the woman I am becoming?
Becoming Her in Motion
Give yourself an alignment check this week. Look at one area of your life and ask:
Does the way I am living in this area reflect what God has been developing within me?
If the answer is no, resist the urge to judge yourself. This is an opportunity to recognize where your growth needs room to become visible. Ask the Holy Spirit what needs to change, then identify one intentional choice you can make in response. Small adjustments made in agreement with God’s leading can become visible evidence of the transformation taking place within you.
Let’s Pray…
Father, thank You that You have not left me where I started. You have been growing me, restoring me, teaching me, and shaping me into the woman You created me to be. Give me the courage to live in agreement with the work You have done within me. Show me where old patterns, responses, priorities, or choices no longer reflect the growth You have produced. Help me remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit and willing to follow wherever You lead. May my life become visible evidence of Your transforming work in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
