Becoming Her: Rooted, Restored & Released
Let’s be honest, it is often hard to hold on to confidence. Fear, insecurity, self-doubt, and comparison can make us question who we are and what God has placed inside of us. They cause us to focus on our weaknesses rather than on God’s strength, and our limitations rather than His faithfulness. When that becomes our pattern, we often retreat into comfort instead of rising in faith.
This month, I want you to focus on who God is and who you are in Him. True confidence is not built on circumstances, performance, or the opinions of others. It is built on the unchanging character of God. When your confidence is rooted in Him, you can move forward with courage even when your emotions try to convince you otherwise.
Where Your Confidence is Rooted
Over the past several weeks, we have talked about fear, obedience, and learning to move forward even when the path is not completely clear. Those conversations naturally lead us here. Confidence is not something we suddenly wake up with one morning. It is developed as we learn to trust God more than our fears, our doubts, and our emotions.
When confidence is built on circumstances, it rises and falls with every challenge. When it is built on performance, it disappears the moment we make a mistake. Confidence rooted in God is different. It remains steady because His character never changes.
Remaining confident has always been a challenge for me. For many years, I allowed my circumstances and my own perceptions to determine how I viewed myself. When things were going well, confidence came more easily. When challenges arose, I often found myself retreating instead of moving forward in faith. Looking back, I can see that my perspective was rooted more in what was happening around me than in who God says I am.
Who God Is Changes Everything
Many women carry God-given potential while simultaneously carrying unnecessary insecurity. Confidence begins to grow when God’s truth becomes louder than the doubts that have shaped our thinking.
Psalm 27:1 (NLT) reminds us:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”
Notice that David begins by identifying who God is before addressing his fear. That is important because fear often loses its influence when we shift our focus from our circumstances to God’s character. The Lord is our light, our salvation, and our fortress. He is our protector, our source of strength, and our security.
David was not denying the existence of challenges. He was declaring that God was greater than those challenges.
Confidence Begins With Identity
When you root yourself in the truth of God’s Word, your circumstances no longer have the final say. Challenges may still exist, but your focus begins to shift from what is happening around you to what God is doing within you.
This is why identity matters. The enemy often attacks our confidence by attacking our identity. He wants us to question who we are, what God has said, and whether we are capable of moving forward. God’s Word responds with truth.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) tells us:
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Think about that for a moment. You are God’s masterpiece. A masterpiece is not ordinary or accidental. It is created with intention, care, and skill. God was purposeful when He created you, and He has already prepared good works for you to walk in.
Confidence grows when you stop measuring yourself by your weaknesses and start seeing yourself through the lens of God’s truth.
Becoming Her in Motion
This week, spend time meditating on Psalm 27:1 and Ephesians 2:10. Instead of focusing on what feels uncertain, focus on who God is and who He says you are. Allow His truth to shape your perspective, strengthen your confidence, and guide your next step forward. Confidence that comes from God is not rooted in feelings. It is rooted in truth.
Take a few moments to write down what these scriptures reveal about who God is and who you are in Him.

Father, I thank You for being my light, my salvation, and my fortress. Thank You for reminding me that my confidence does not have to be built on circumstances, performance, or the approval of others. My confidence can rest securely in You. When fear, insecurity, self-doubt, and comparison try to challenge my identity, help me return to the truth of Your Word. Thank You for creating me with intention, purpose, and care. Thank You for calling me Your masterpiece. As I continue this journey of becoming who You created me to be, strengthen my confidence, deepen my faith, and help me walk boldly in the truth of who You are and who I am in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
